Writing Airbnb Listing Descriptions
An honest, specific listing description outperforms a clever one. Here is the structure that works.
The description's real job
Your description confirms what the photos promised and answers the questions photos can't. It is not the place to sell — it is the place to be specific.
A structure that works
First line: One sentence that names the space and its best feature. Guests see this in search.
The space: What it is, how many it sleeps, what floor, what view. Be literal.
The neighborhood: Walkable to what? Parking? Noise? Honesty here prevents bad reviews.
Getting around: Transit, drive time to landmarks, airport.
What's included: Coffee, wifi speed, parking, laundry. Specifics reduce questions.
House rules summary: Short. The full rules live elsewhere.
What to avoid
- Superlatives with no proof ("stunning," "luxurious").
- Long lists of amenities that are actually standard.
- Burying the location to seem closer to attractions than you are.
The best listings read like a knowledgeable friend describing the place — accurate, warm, and a little specific.
