Privacy Policy

Version 1.2 · Effective 2026-08-29

Airbnb Host Advisor ("HostAdvisor") collects only the information we actually need to provide our educational services, personalize your experience, and operate memberships. This Privacy Policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create a Free Host account, we collect your email address and a name you provide. Authentication data (such as login tokens) is managed by our platform infrastructure. We do not collect your password in plain text — it is handled securely by the authentication system.

1.2 My Journey Data

When you complete the My Journey onboarding, we collect information about your hosting situation, including:

  • Hosting status (e.g., exploring, currently hosting, former host)
  • Experience level
  • Hosting model (e.g., owner-occupied, remote owner, co-host)
  • Primary goals (e.g., improve occupancy, scale portfolio)
  • Property details (type, general location, bedrooms, bathrooms, guest capacity — all optional)

We use this information to personalize your experience, recommend relevant resources, and suggest actions for your hosting journey. You can update your My Journey information at any time through your profile.

1.3 Ask HostAdvisor

When you use Ask HostAdvisor, your questions and conversation history are sent to our AI-assisted processing system to generate a response. Your HostAdvisor profile context (journey stage, hosting status, goals) is used to personalize the response.

Interaction persistence: We retain a governed record of Ask Advisor interactions to improve our content, identify knowledge gaps, and understand what hosts need help with. This record may include your question (with sensitive information redacted where detected), a summary of the answer provided, the response quality classification, matched HostAdvisor resources, and your account association where you are logged in.

How we use this data: To identify topics where HostAdvisor content is missing or insufficient, to detect content demand, to improve answer quality, and to surface content opportunities for editorial review. Admin users may review interactions to understand product quality and content needs.

Sensitive information: Do not submit Social Security numbers, bank credentials, passwords, or payment-card information. We apply automated redaction for common sensitive patterns before persistence, but you should not rely on this — avoid submitting sensitive credentials.

Not model training: Your questions are not automatically submitted into any external model training program. HostAdvisor uses interaction records for its own product intelligence, not to train third-party AI models.

Retention: Detailed interaction records are retained for a bounded operational period for product review. Aggregate statistics may be retained longer. You may request deletion of your interaction history as part of account deletion or privacy request, subject to legitimate retention needs.

1.4 Membership and Subscription Data

If you purchase a paid membership, we store your membership tier, subscription status, billing period dates, and provider identifiers (such as a provider customer ID and subscription ID). We do notstore your raw payment-card data. Payment information is handled by our payment provider.

1.5 Referral and Source Attribution

We may store information about how you found HostAdvisor (such as a referral source or attribution identifier). This helps us understand which outreach is effective. We do not expose another user's personal information through referral data.

1.7 Lead and Audience Data

When you voluntarily provide your email to receive a resource (such as the Airbnb Setup Starter Guide) or when an admin records a legitimate prospective-host interaction, we create a lead record in our owned audience database. This record may include your email, name, source (how you found us), primary interest, host type, and marketing consent status.

Marketing consent: Providing your email to receive a resource does notautomatically subscribe you to marketing emails. Marketing consent requires your affirmative opt-in. You can unsubscribe at any time — unsubscribe removes you from marketing emails only and does not delete your account, cancel any paid membership, or block service communications (such as password resets or billing).

Do Not Contact: You may request Do Not Contact status, which overrides all marketing eligibility. Admin may also apply Do Not Contact for compliance purposes.

Contact history: We maintain a record of interactions (such as when an access email was sent, when you registered, or when consent changed) and a durable consent event history showing when consent was granted, revoked, or when you unsubscribed.

Retention: Lead records are retained while your relationship with HostAdvisor is active. Unsubscribed and Do Not Contact records may be retained as suppression evidence. You may request deletion of your lead data, subject to legitimate suppression-evidence retention needs.

1.6 Technical and Analytics Data

We collect basic technical data necessary for authentication, security, and service operation. We may track aggregate, anonymized usage events to understand which features are used. Our public site also uses Google Analytics 4 — our own property, on this site's own domain — for aggregate traffic understanding: page views, referrers, and general location. It receives no email address, name, phone number or token; we send only the page path, never query strings, so a link that carries a token cannot leak one. We do not use advertising trackers, remarketing pixels, or cross-site profiling.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and personalize your HostAdvisor experience.
  • To generate recommendations and suggested actions for your hosting journey.
  • To operate and manage your membership, including billing and access.
  • To communicate with you about your account and service.
  • To maintain security and prevent abuse.
  • To improve our content and features over time.

Account and service communications (such as billing confirmations) are distinct from marketing communications. Creating a Free Host account does not automatically constitute consent to unrestricted marketing email.

3. Payment Data

HostAdvisor does not store raw payment-card data. Our payment provider processes payment information securely. We retain only the provider identifiers and billing/subscription status necessary to operate memberships.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide services. If you cancel a paid membership, your subscription records and billing history may be retained for legal, operational, and accounting purposes. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data where practical, while retaining records that must legitimately be kept (such as billing records for tax or legal obligations).

5. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. However, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

6. Your Rights

You can:

  • Update your account information and My Journey profile at any time.
  • Cancel your membership at any time.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing communications.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legitimate retention needs).
  • Request information about the data we hold about you.

For the Founding Host launch, these requests are handled through a governed manual process. Contact us through the support channel listed on this page.

7. Account Deletion

If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data where practical. Some records — such as billing history, audit logs, and records required for legal or operational reasons — may need to be retained. Deleting your account does not automatically delete records that must legitimately be kept.

8. Cookies and Local Storage

HostAdvisor uses authentication cookies and local storage necessary for login and basic site functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Google Analytics 4 sets its own first-party cookies to distinguish visits and sessions; it is not used for advertising, remarketing, or cross-site profiling. Referral attribution may use a cookie or local storage entry to remember how you found the site.

9. Children's Privacy

HostAdvisor is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, as explained in our Terms.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the version number and effective date above. Prior versions will be preserved. We will provide appropriate notice of material changes that affect how we handle your data.

11. Contact

For privacy requests or questions about this Privacy Policy, contact us through the support channel listed on this page. The specific contact channel is being finalized for the Founding Host launch.

Note: Contact information is pending Product Owner decision.

This Privacy Policy reflects HostAdvisor's actual current data practices. We do not describe data collection that does not occur. See our Terms of Use.
