Build an Airbnb Cleaning and Turnover System

A turnover is not just cleaning — it is a 30-minute reset of a small business. Here is how to make it reliable.

The turnover is your product

Guests forgive a slightly outdated sofa. They do not forgive a hair on the pillowcase. A repeatable turnover system protects every other investment you make in the property.

The standard turnover checklist

  1. Strip and remake all beds with fresh linens.
  2. Bathroom reset — clean all surfaces, replace towels, refill toiletries, check the shower drain.
  3. Kitchen reset — clean dishes, wipe counters, empty trash, restock basics.
  4. Floor sweep and mop, vacuum rugs.
  5. Detail pass — baseboards, light switches, remotes, door handles.
  6. Restock — coffee, paper goods, soap, spare towels.
  7. Photo log — before-and-after photos protect you in damage claims.

Who does it

If you self-clean, time yourself for three turnovers and decide whether that time is worth it. Most hosts reach a point where a trusted cleaner is cheaper than the opportunity cost.

The one non-negotiable

A turnover is never "good enough." It is either done to standard or it isn't. The standard is what the next guest finds when they walk in.
